SUMMARY:ASSK Product Development Competition
DESCRIPTION:The Actuarial Students’ Association of Kenya (ASSK) will be hosting the Product Development Competition (PDC) for the actuarial science club on the 6th and 7th of July 2023. The event will take place at KCA University. During the competition\, actuarial students from various universities in Kenya\, including JKUAT\, Maseno\, Kisii\, Moi\, Machakos\, Meru\, Karatina\, and Daystar University\, among others\, will come together to develop and model actuarial products based on a given theme. \nThe PDC is an annual event organized by ASSK\, attracting over 200 actuarial students. It provides a platform for students to showcase their skills and knowledge in actuarial science. The competition’s themes in previous years have focused on topics such as the Importance of Actuarial Science in Finance and Investment\, Exploring Opportunities through Research and Innovation\, and Insuretech & Fintech. \nEach university participating in the PDC can present two teams\, with a maximum of four members per team\, to compete at the regional level. Successful teams from the regionals will proceed to the national level. The presentations are evaluated by qualified actuaries\, insurance professionals\, and experienced academicians in the actuarial field. \nParticipation in the PDC offers numerous opportunities for students to network with industry professionals and potentially receive offers from them. The Event will take place at the KCAU Kitengela land.\nThe University intends to partake in this exercise as a soft launch for a mega Tree Planting activity which will take place at a later date once the perimeter wall project has been completed.\nThe Tree Planting Initiative is one of the many other initiatives geared towards celebrating KCAU@10 since it became a chartered University in 2013.
