Job Objective
- The job holder will provide strategic leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and management of the University’s ICT infrastructure and digital services, ensuring technology effectively supports academic, research, and administrative functions. The role also involves overseeing the security, optimisation, and innovation of ICT infrastructure, enterprise systems, digital platforms, and technology initiatives across the University.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management
- Provide strategic leadership in the formulation and implementation of the University’s ICT and digital transformation strategy.
- Lead the design, development, and management of robust ICT infrastructure, enterprise systems, and digital platforms supporting teaching, learning, research, and administration.
- Develop and manage the ICT budget and vendor partnerships to ensure cost-effective technology solutions.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to ICT teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and service excellence.
- Ensure compliance with relevant ICT standards, policies and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and enforce ICT policies and governance frameworks, and ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
- Technical lead
- Provide technical guidance and support to the university’s academic and administrative units.
- Drive innovation by promoting the adoption of emerging technologies, such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and data analytics, across university operations.
- Integrate multiple systems and platforms to ensure seamless data flow across university departments.
- Establish and maintain strong cybersecurity, data protection, and disaster recovery frameworks to safeguard the University’s ICT assets.
- Oversee the implementation and optimisation of enterprise resource planning (ERP), learning management systems (LMS), data analytics, and other digital solutions.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of ICT services across the University.
Qualifications And Experience
- Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field from an accredited and recognised institution. A PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is an added advantage.
- B.Sc in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field from an accredited and recognised institution.
- Industry-recognised certifications such as: Project Management, Cybersecurity, Cloud Technologies, Microsoft Azure certifications, or Google Cloud certifications.
- At least 8 years of work experience, with 2 years working at a senior management level in a university or similar institution.
- Proven experience in ICT strategy development, enterprise systems management, IT governance, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex ICT environments and large-scale technology projects
