Honoring the Roots of Staff Engagement

Prof. Isaiah I.C. Wakindiki, Vice Chancellor & CEO, began by tracing the history of staff engagement forums globally and locally, highlighting how structured dialogue between employers and employees dates back to the 19th century. At KCA University, these forums have become an important vehicle for participatory governance, in line with the national values of transparency, accountability, and public participation. Reflecting on the previous year, our Vice Chancellor & CEO expressed deep gratitude to the staff for their unwavering commitment to the University’s mission, vision and values.

Reflecting on 2024

He highlighted significant strides made in infrastructural developments, academic excellence, research and innovation, student success stories, strategic partnerships and a strong sense of community and teamwork. These accomplishments have reflected KCA University’s progressive stride toward a vision of being a premier business and technology university of choice. He also acknowledged individual and departmental excellence, reminding staff that every achievement, big or small, contributes meaningfully to the university’s legacy

The VC also addressed concerns raised by staff members and invited solutions by encouraging dialogue, while pledging to work alongside the university leadership and all staff to ensure the institution’s wide progress and staff wellbeing. He called upon all staff to become co-creators of change, emphasizing that transformative progress is only possible when every member of the university community plays an active role.

The 2025 State of the University Staff Forum reaffirmed that KCA University is not just an institution of learning but a community where every staff member is valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Way Forward

Following the staff address, the insights gathered from this engagement will inform institutional planning, policy refinement, and continuous improvement initiatives. KCA University will conduct follow-up consultations, implement action points from the forum, and monitor progress through periodic reviews. This means a better-aligned, more responsive, and a purpose-driven university, committed to excellence in education, innovation, and service.
