GRADUATE ASSISTANT IN SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

Job Objective

  • The candidate will be responsible for providing an opportunity for recent graduates to gain academic, research, and teaching support experience in Software Development and support high-quality teaching, learning, and research within the department.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  1. Teaching and Learning
  • Assist lecturers in preparing teaching materials, tutorials, and coursework.
  • Facilitate discussion groups, tutorials, or practical sessions where required.
  • Support marking of assignments, tests, and examinations under supervision.
  • Provide academic support and guidance to students.
  1. Research Coordination
  • Engage in research activities, including literature reviews, data collection, and analysis.
  • Help with research projects, including preparing reports, presentations, and grant development.
  1. Administrative and Student Support
  • Assist departments in maintaining student records and data entry.
  • Support in organising departmental activities, including seminars, workshops, guest lectures and ceremonies.
  • Support administrative duties within the department as assigned.
  • Assist in organising students’ activities.
  • Provide student support and Services and refer them to support services as appropriate.
  • Supervise undergraduate interns where applicable.
  • Attend departmental and faculty meetings where required.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications And Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree Computer Science, Software development or Software Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited and recognised university.
  • A strong academic record (at least Second-Class Upper Division or equivalent). First class is an added advantage.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Master’s Degree program.
  • Demonstrated interest in research, teaching or consultancy
