
Professor Vincent O. Onywera is the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor- Teaching and Learning (DVC-T&L) and Pioneer Deputy Vice Chancellor Research, Innovation and Outreach at KCA University, Kenya. With over twenty-two years of teaching and research experience, including senior-level positions in university management, he is a distinguished Professor of Exercise and Sports Science. Holding a Ph.D. in Exercise and Sports Science, M.Ed. in Physical and Health Education, and a Bachelor of Education with First Class Honors, Prof. Onywera has conducted extensive research on the role of genetics, nutrition, and sociocultural factors in the performance of Kenyan middle and distance runners. He has a remarkable publication record, with over 165 publications in refereed journals and successful grant acquisitions totaling over Ksh. 150,000,000. Prof. Onywera’s contributions extend beyond academia, as he has been instrumental in establishing the IAAF Academy at Kenyatta University and developing plans for a comprehensive sports complex. Engaging in national, regional, and international collaborations, he is committed to capacity building, surveillance, and research promoting healthy active living in the Eastern Africa and Great Lakes Region.
