Prof. Muchiri is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Teaching and Learning (DVC-T&L) at KCA University.

He is a scholar of entrepreneurship and business research methods with over 27 years of experience in university teaching, research, quality assurance and academic administration. He has held senior leadership roles at KCA University for nearly two decades. These include founding Director of Research and Extension, Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research, Dean of the School of Business, and Director of Quality Assurance. As Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Teaching and Learning, he provides strategic leadership and oversight of all academic affairs. This covers quality assurance, programme development and accreditation, student enrolment management, and the enhancement of the student academic experience.

An active researcher, he has over 40 journal and conference publications in entrepreneurship education, youth entrepreneurship and SME leadership. He has won research grants worth over KES 65 million from funders including the British Council, the National Research Fund and the International Development Research Centre. He holds a Doctor of Management from the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University, USA.

The Division of Teaching and Learning, under the leadership of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor T&L, provides strategic direction and oversight for the University’s academic programmes and Schools. Its remit covers the Schools of Business, Technology, and Education, Arts and Social Sciences, as well as postgraduate studies, the Centre for Teaching and Learning Excellence, Academic Registration and Student Affairs. It also oversees quality assurance, programme development and accreditation, and the enhancement of the student academic experience. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor also serves as Secretary to the University Senate. All of this work is carried out in alignment with the University’s vision, mission, core values, and strategic direction.
