KCAU Explores Sports Science Collaboration in Israel

Research, technology, sports medicine and a deeper understanding of the human body are increasingly shaping how athletes train, compete and recover. These developments are creating new frontiers for sports science, with opportunities for learning and innovation that extend well beyond the field.

It is within this evolving landscape that KCA University is strengthening its international outlook. From 6th –11th September 2026, Prof. Vincent Onywera, Deputy Vice Chancellor – Research, Innovation and Outreach, undertook a strategic visit to Israel to explore potential collaborations in sports science, research, technology and talent development.

Hosted by Prof. Mickey Scheinowitz of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Founder and First Director of the Sylvan Adams Sports Institute at Tel Aviv University, Prof. Onywera visited the Sylvan Adams Sports Science Institute at Tel Aviv University, Wingate Academic College, Wingate Institute and the Hadar Yosef Sports Complex. The engagements offered insights into approaches to sports science research, athlete development, sports medicine and innovation.

Reflecting on the significance of the visit, Prof. Onywera noted:

“Sports science offers exciting opportunities for interdisciplinary research and innovation, bringing together technology, data and physical well-being to address real-world challenges. For KCA University, collaborations in this area can enrich our research agenda, expose students to emerging fields of knowledge and equip them with transferable skills in data analysis, technology and innovation. These opportunities can broaden their perspectives on how their respective disciplines can contribute to the evolving sports and health sectors.”

The visit also included a business meeting with partners and an engagement with the Kenyan Ambassador in Israel, hosted by Yuval Brown and Michal Judovits. Discussions explored opportunities to strengthen Kenya–Israel academic and institutional linkages, including potential collaboration in research, knowledge exchange and student opportunities.

For KCA University, global engagement is about opening up possibilities for knowledge to travel, ideas to evolve and new approaches to emerge. By engaging with institutions at the forefront of sports science and innovation, the University is exploring pathways to strengthen its research agenda and broaden the horizons of its academic community.

The next breakthrough in sports science could begin with a new idea, a shared discovery or a partnership that brings knowledge across borders.
