KCA University Strengthens Governance Through Executive Leadership Programme in London

As universities navigate rapid technological change, evolving learner expectations, and an increasingly complex global landscape, strong governance has become a defining pillar of institutional resilience, innovation, and long-term success. Future-ready universities are built on visionary leadership that is equipped to anticipate change, embrace innovation, and make strategic decisions that create lasting impact.

In line with this commitment, the KCA University Board of Trustees and University Council participated in the executive leadership programme, Transformational Governance for Future-Ready Universities, held in London, United Kingdom, from 3rd –6th August 2026.

Organised by the Centre for Innovative Leadership and Governance (CLIG Africa) in collaboration with the Centre for Management Excellence (CME-UK), London, the programme brought together university leaders to strengthen strategic governance and leadership in response to the evolving demands of higher education.

Facilitated by distinguished experts, including Prof. Olive Mugenda, Dr. Godwin Lewanika, Dr. Elizabeth Shaw, Dr. Charles Klassen, Dr. Tarisai Chikomba, Dave Wells, and Maurice Diamond, the programme explored strategic leadership, university governance, institutional transformation, financial sustainability, innovation, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, cybersecurity, data governance, and resource mobilisation.

As part of the programme, the KCA University delegation also undertook a benchmarking visit to the University of London, where they gained valuable insights into international best practices in university governance, institutional leadership, and strategic planning. The visit provided an opportunity to explore innovative approaches that can further strengthen KCA University’s institutional performance, global competitiveness, and long-term sustainability.
