KCA University Hosts Global ISPRS–ISDE 2025 Conference on Geospatial Science and Digital Earth Technologies

KCA University continues to advance its leadership in research, innovation, and international collaboration following the successful hosting of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) and International Symposium on Digital Earth (ISDE) 2025 Conference, held from 2nd to 4th December 2025, which brought together global experts in geospatial science, digital earth, and land governance from over ten countries. The forum highlighted the University’s rising profile in delivering solutions for a smarter, safer, and more sustainable world

Throughout the three days, delegates engaged in high-level technical sessions, knowledge exchange forums, and collaborative discussions focused on harnessing geospatial intelligence to address global challenges such as climate change, urbanization, infrastructure development, and sustainable growth

KCA University was honoured to host Mr. Weldon Maritim, Director of Surveys, Kenya, who represented Hon. Generali Nixon Korir, C.B.S., Principal Secretary, State Department for Lands and Physical Planning, alongside the President of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK).Their participation underscored the strong national and professional support behind the conference and reaffirmed Kenya’s growing influence in the global geospatial ecosystem.

Speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor and CEO, Prof. Isaiah I. C. Wakindiki, the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Research, Innovation, and Outreach, Prof. Vincent Onywera, welcomed the international delegates and noted that hosting the ISPRS–ISDE 2025 Conference was a powerful affirmation of KCA University’s commitment to global research collaboration, innovation-driven solutions, and industry engagement.He emphasized that the conference created invaluable opportunities for KCA University faculty and students to interact directly with world-renowned scientists and practitioners in the geospatial field.

During the conference, KCA University also showcased key institutional milestones that will shape its future in geospatial education and applied research. Among the major highlights was the announcement of the upcoming Bachelor of Science in Geo-Informatics, scheduled for launch in 2026, and the establishment of the Continental Center for Road Safety and Injury Surveillance. These initiatives reflect the University’s growing investment in science-driven solutions that directly support national development and the Sustainable Development Goals.
